 These is a civil township in the northeast corner of Kent County, Michigan. The township is bordered by the township of Maple Valley to the north, Oakfield to the South, Nelson to the West and Montcalm to the east.
 The 2000 census indicated that the township had a population of 3,681 people with 1,028 families and 1,357 households. Its total area is 95 km2 with 91 km2 of land and 4.1 km2 of water. The density of population in the township was 40.5/km2 with 1,641 housing units that had an average density of 18.1/km2. The median income for a family was $55,475, and that of a household was $51,765. The median income for females was $27,773 while that for males was $38,021. These resulted in a per capita income of $18,692.
 Spencer Township does not have big portions of cultivatable land with trees consisting of majorly pine. However, it is a rapidly expanding township that oozes a lot of potentials. Within some years, the town is bound to increase in population and wealth. The Black Creek stream flows through Spencer and is used to float logs from the township. The town is also close to Lincoln Lake and Cooper Lake.
