HISTORY
Fredrick Whitmore originally bought the land in 1871 and was given the name Sand Lake. The town organized in 1878 and became one of the first stations north of Grand Raids. Sand Lake is a tourist community but retains its small town atmosphere. POPULATION Sand Lakes population is 515 people. The median age is 32.8 years of age. The median household income is $34,214.
