HISTORY
Guy Webster came to Orleans in March of 1838 and he was the first settler. In 1839 Daniel Hoyt came and bought some land and he was the preacher in town. It became a town in 1846. There isn’t much history in this excellent town, it’s just a great place to live. POPULATION In 2009 the population for Orleans is 1,767 people. It has had a 5.49 percent growth since 2000 census. The median age is 34 years and the median household income is $45,042. The racial makeup is 97.46% white, 0.09% African American, 0.53% Native American, 0.31% Asian, 0.18% from other races and 1.43% from two or more races, 1.74% Hispanic or Latino. EDUCATION Orleans Threshold Academy is a charter elementary school and it has excellent state test results. Orleans spends $6,177 per student and has a ratio of 18 students for every teacher.
