HISTORY
George Nash was the chief engineer of the Michigan Central Railroad in 1866. Nash offered to officially plat and register the town when it was doing the same thing for the railroad property there. Robert and George Gregg were the first settlers there and they recommended that Nash’s name be used as the name of the town. In 1869 the town was officially incorporated as a village, this is also the year that the first train came through. Nashville is situated on the Thornapple River, it is a commuter town as it’s between greater Grand Rapids and the Lansing areas.

As of 2009, Nashville's population is 1,665 people. Since 2000, it has had a population growth of 0.59 percent. The racial makeup of the village was 97.62% White, 0.59% Native American, 0.36% Asian, 0.12% from other races, and 1.31% from two or more races, 0.89% Hispanic or Latino.
