HISTORY
Marne is part of Ottawa County which includes the Holland-Grand Haven Metro area. The community was originally named Berlin because of the German Settlers that were there. In 1852 it received a post office and was platted in 1857. The name was changed in 1919 to Marne due to the anti-German sentiments and to honor those soldiers that fought in the Battle of the Marne. POPULATION The population of Marne is 3,271 people. Marne’s cost of living is 8.53% lower than the U.S. average. The median age is 36.4 years old and the median household income is $57,356.
