HISTORY
Hopkins is a small agricultural town, it has two parks, an active elevator which is situated on Bear Creek, several stores and small businesses. The town was named after Stephen Hopkins who was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. R.C. Round who was an early settler to the area gave the area it name as he was a great grandson of Martha Hopkins Round, sister to Stephen. The railroad came to the area in 1874.

As of July 2008 the population was 552 people. The racial makeup of the village is 94.09% white, 0.51% African American, 1.86% Native American, 1.18% Asian, 0.17% from other races, and 2.20% from two or more races and 1.01% Hispanic or Latino. The median age is 33.7 years old. The estimated median household income is $42,590.
