HISTORY
Greenville was chartered in 1871 and named after John Green. Green’s fortune came from lumber when he moved to the area in 1840. After a sawmill and dam were built the area quickly grew into a town, which was financed by Green. Today Greenville is the County’s largest region of commerce and is growing rapidly. It is known for refrigerator production, tool and die, plastics and other diverse manufacturing.
