History
In 1866 Carson City was first platted on land owned by R.M. Abbott, Delia Miner and Hiram T. Sherman, it was then recorded in 1871. John and Thomas LaDue and Thomas Scott built a sawmill in 1868 and a grist mill in 1870. Hiram T. Sherman was the first postmaster. The name Carson City was given to the post office by Thomas Scott, he had been in Carson City, Nevada during the gold and silver mining days. In 1887 Carson City was incorporated as a village and in 1960 it became a city.

As of 2009, the population of Carson City is 1,184 people, it has had a population growth of 1.51 percent since 2000.
