Blendon is situated in Ottawa County, 15 miles to the west of Grand Rapids. The area is part of the Holland-Grand Haven Metro area. The township was formed in 1854, primarily by Dutch settlers. Blendon is named for the Blendon Lumber Company which owned most of the land in the area at the time the town was formed.
 
 
Agriculture still has a strong presence in the area; however, the area is perhaps best known for the annual tulip festival that takes place each year in nearby Holland.
