HISTORY
In 1838, Levi Broas, Beldings first settler arrived in the area. Belding was first known as Broas Rapids, it was later called Patterson Mills and then Hog Wallow. The name Belding was chosen in 1871 to honor the Belding family. Belding’s first silk factory started in 1887. It was sponsored and financed by the Belding family, they were afraid it was going to fail so they chose to call it the Richardson Mill.
